GOLD STAR!...........
The pergola is finished and I am thrilled with it.............it's not often you get exactly what you ask for but on this occasion its more than I wanted, the next thing is poor Bob has to stain it and get it tiled, hopefully in the near future we will fit some sort of permanent roofing this will give much needed space for when visitors (you know who you are!!!) invade.......this years invasion could not have been planned any better if we had tried and everything is in place so fingers crossed we should and will have a good time.
Bob managed a night at home on his way to Madrid it breaks the three weeks up nicely when he gets home in between but that's in a perfect world and we don't live in a perfect world if we did it would rain in the night and be sunny during the day....it's not, we seem to be having a malfunction and I hope it improves for June.
The first holiday makers since Easter at Richard and Lisa's have meant pool duties this week and when they left yesterday they had written a very nice compliment in the visitors book so it was a gold star for me!

PERGOLA........
Bob went back to the UK on Tuesday after a super chilled weekend with Julie and Christian, it turned out to be good practice for my family due out in June and its now only two weeks away.......getting very excited, not seen my Mum for six years. We have managed to put 5 people up at Richard and Lisa's place, hope the weather is good so we can use the pool!!!
Chris has started our Pergola at the back of the house and it is a mega structure I did say I wanted chunky timbers and it's certainly CHUNKY it actually looks like an extension and up to now I am thrilled with it, all I need now is the gates to be done before August.

FIRST VISITERS
Bobs daugther and boyfriend have been with us for the last few days and a lovely time was had. The weather has been glorious and we have eaten outside...no stress cooking, wine a plenty, a trip to the races at Pompadour, a scrummy lunch and a rather drunken afternoon!!!
We went to Jumilhac sat at the bar and I ordered a beer, then another one, by the third and the feeling of falling off the chair we notice the bottles we over 7% volume!!!
Molly has also enjoyed them being here, she went jogging (on the lead) with them being keen fitness bods and we went to Ruffiac Lake for a walk where she turned into a diver.....I would only let her go off the ickle board.
Bobs still tinkering with the sit-on but we went and purchased a new petrol mower so at least I can mow the garden when it breaks again......and it will.
The sister, mum, nephew visit in June has turned into a family re-union from 3 I now have 7 arriving at different times.......Help!!

LIFE'S A FAFF..............
Been out with Di twice this week........A talk given by a very nice lady at the infamous "be out of here by 10pm bar" which was so cold we all sat wrapped up in pink fleece blankets, I managed to avert my eyes from noddy, all was going well and I was quite enjoying the talk when in her various descriptions of communicating with your horse one suggestion was "try sending him a text"!!! at this point my head slipped under the pink blanket in the hope nobody would see me laughing and I glazed over which was a shame.
Second outing with Di......Brantome for a vide whatsit it was a lovely day and we had a super lunch, we returned to the car to offload some purchases when the car boot didn't open and it sparked a conversation (grumpy old woman style) on the incompetence of inanimate objects and humans, by the end of the day we had concluded that..........LIFE'S A FAFF.
Bob due home on Friday with Julie and Christian as long as that incompetent Faffing volcano sods off

ABSCESS.........
Is what it was.......Dr Venetz came this morning and found in his words a very big abscess in Nookies foot, he had been getting worse not better and he was showing all the signs of it being an abscess, so its now draining and he has had a tetanus and antibiotic jab plus he is on bute for a couple of days, the only rather worrying thing is I have to give him a jab in his neck on Monday I have done this in his bottom before but never in the neck not looking forward to that. I went to the vets yesterday and asked for him to come out and have a look and I was really surprised at myself I manage to get the receptionist to understand and I also understood she was prepared to give me the antibiotic jab there and then to administer but I was pulling my face, she laughed and we left it.
I remember Pip had an abscess and you would of thought he had broke a leg the way he acted but Nookie other than going progressively lame has been grazing and wandering round, but showed the pain he must of been in when the vet was digging his hoof.

HAPPY BUNNIE...........
A rather dull and chilly start to the day.....chickens fine just let them out this morning, Nookie still not 100% I watched him moving around whilst I had my coffee he never lifted his head from grazing the pain he has to go through for a mouthful of grass ;-)
By 11am I was at the plant fair, baguette and choc au pain in hand money in purse I planned my attack a viburnum bush and a lilac tree (white) in the car first, back for a red climbing rose, next was a verbena bonariensis, back again for butternut squash, raspberry canes, basil and coriander then I was back and forth between two stalls selling clematis, not being able to make my mind up no clematis was purchased, will save that for another day returned home a very happy Bunnie. Lit the fire and watched Badminton Horse Trials for the rest of the afternoon double happy Bunnie.

THERE HERE..........
Chickens..... two to be precise picked them up Friday left them for 24hrs in their coop (as instructed) and this afternoon let them out, within 5 mins they were through the brambles and pissed off on a new adventure, I stood there and thought I don't think I make a good chicken mum. By dusk they were round the pen trying to find a way in once they had sussed it out they walked up the ramp and that was that.
Thursday Bob returned to the UK after a frantic as usual (famous last words) 5 days he built the pen for the chickens and a gate!! put together and erected a rose arch, tinkered with the sit on, tinkered with the pickup, came shopping, went out two nights and sat in the sun for 10 mins.
On Thursday morning I fed Nookie and noticed he was doing something with his leg that wasn't normal I was poo picking and chatting to Bob when he came hurtling out of his shelter a huge convoy of contractors going past he looked fine! by the time we were back in the garden he came over to his water bucket hopping lame, I cleaned and hosed his foot after going through "he's got laminitis.......navicular.......abcess.......broken his fetlock/foot/shoulder/knee.....done a tendon" its taken two days but he seems OK and he has had a few silly moments today because two horses went past.........we have a few thick roots sticking up and I am hoping he has trod on one and bruised his foot.
